Money Transfer Giant Western Union Joins Tamr at Snowflake Summit to Share How Trusted Data Powers Customer Service Initiatives

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – June 9, 2022 Tamr, the leader in next-generation master data management solutions, announced today that Harveer Singh, Chief Data Architect at Western Union, will join Matt Holzapfel, Tamr’s head of corporate strategy, for a fireside chat at the Snowflake Summit, June 13 – 16, to discuss how trusted data powers their customer service initiatives.

Western Union, a global leader in cross-border, cross-currency money movement and payments, is using Tamr Core to break down silos and generate complete customer records, which will be stored in the Snowflake Data Cloud. These complete records will provide Western Union with holistic views that can be used to enhance the customer experience by, for example, equipping customer service agents with more detailed information on a person. The Tamr Core next-generation MDM solution integrates machine learning with human feedback to deliver clean data faster with less manual preparation.

“Knowing who your customers are is essential to serving them better,” Singh said. “With Tamr’s next-generation MDM solution, we’re generating the records that let us form a complete view of our customers and allow Western Union to offer a superior user experience. And we’re doing this with less manual work for faster time to insight. Using Tamr and Snowflake together is a key part of our initiative to develop comprehensive customer views.”

Singh and Holzapfel will discuss why Western Union adopted a modern approach to MDM, how having trusted data in the Snowflake Data Cloud underpins its digital transformation projects and the connection between accurate data and providing superior customer service.

“Many organizations are like Western Union: they’re looking for a fresh approach to data management. This means adopting a modern cloud data solution like the Snowflake Data Cloud as well as a modern MDM solution that uses ML instead of rules. I know a lot of what Harveer and I are going to discuss will resonate with people, especially if they’re looking for a new take on MDM,” Holzapfel said.

“We’re witnessing vast digital transformation in the financial services industry, as firms shift business priorities to meet consumer expectations with enhanced customer experiences and personalized offerings,” said Rinesh Patel, Global Industry GTM Lead, Financial Services, Snowflake. “Western Union’s partnership with Tamr is an excellent example of how key players can build customer-centric applications on Snowflake’s Data Cloud in order to optimize the value of data, which enhances their customer 360 views and accelerates their ambitions for a customer-centric model of operations.”

Tamr’s fireside chat with Western Union is on Wednesday, June 15 at 11 a.m. PST at the Caesars Forum Conference Center in Las Vegas. The Snowflake Summit, where Tamr is exhibiting at booth 1014B, runs from June 13 to 16 there.
